There’s a growing trend for grand romantic gestures, where lovestruck suitors pop the question not over a candlelit dinner but on a football pitch or rock concert stage in front of thousands. Bomb disposal expert Lana (Vicky McClure) picked her moment to declare everlasting love, in Trigger Point (ITV1), when her ex-boyfriend Thom (Mark Stanley) was standing on the pressure plate of an improvised explosive device. The characters are senior Met police officers: Lana has been training Ukrainian special forces, Thom’s a Chief Inspector and his new squeeze is a Detective Sergeant (Natalie Simpson).
