Trailblazing Ballerina Misty Copeland's Final Performance Revealed After Retirement Announcement
Misty Copeland is set to take her final bow on Oct. 22, 2025, marking her retirement. After a five-year hiatus, the trailblazing ballerina will take the stage for unforgettable dances at Lincoln Center. In 2015, she became the first Black principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre.
After a five-year hiatus, Copeland is set to take the stage for a final performance on Oct. 22, 2025, for a night aptly titled “A Celebration Honoring Misty Copeland.” Taking place at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, the night will include performances by Copeland and other dancers. Six years later, she launched the Misty Copeland Foundation, providing opportunities for children “in under-resourced communities to engage their bodies, hearts, and minds in learning through dance, especially ballet,” the official site explains. In February, she shared a candid Instagram pos t about embracing the changes that come with pregnancy after welcoming her son Jackson with husband Olu Evans, around April 2022.
