Tory Lanez files appeal of his guilty verdict in shooting of Megan Thee Stallion days after Drake defends him
Lanez received a 10-year prison sentence in connection with three felony convictions in the July 2020 incident in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles.
Tory Lanez has filed an appeal of his guilty verdict in his July 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, saying that prosecutors in the case engaged in misconduct, including in parts of the trial in which the superstar songstress took the stand. The Broke in a Minute performer's legal team said that 'prosecutors made multiple improper appeals to emotion and sympathy for' Megan in their closing arguments, which 'had no bearing' on determining if Lanez had been innocent or guilty. Megan seemingly referred to to Drake in her single Hiss with a line, 'These n***** hate on BBLs and be walkin’ ’round with the same scars/Real curvy, no edgin’, n***** fight to get in my section/ Don’t speak on my body count if the d*** ain’t worth comin’ back for seconds/ Cosplay gangsters, fake-a** accents.'
