Kite-foil athlete Jackson James Rice, who was set to be the first Caucasian to represent Tonga at the Olympic Games, died in a diving accident in Tonga on Saturday

Jackson James Rice has tragically died in a diving accident aged 18, just weeks before being due to compete at the Paris Olympics. His body was discovered beneath the boat at 12:15pm, with subsequent attempts to resuscitate him proving unsuccessful, his father Darren confirmed to the Matangi Tonga newspaper. According to ANOC, Kite foil racing combines aspects of "sailing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, surfing and paragliding into one extreme sport".
