Tony Hawk Reveals How He Feels About Becoming an Empty Nester — and Shares What He Plans to Do with His Time (Exclusive)


During an exclusive interview at the 2025 Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday, June 21, Tony Hawk revealed how he feels about becoming an empty nester. When asked what he intends to do when he officially enters empty nesting status, Hawk tells PEOPLE he and his wife Catherine Goodman plan to "be grandparents."

Hawk first became a father when he welcomed his first child, son Riley, 32, in 1992, with ex-wife Cindy Dunbar. Seven years later, Hawk had his fourth child and first daughter, Kadence, 17, with then-wife Lhotse Merriam. He has also opened up about the struggles of raising his family during his progressing career, including in his 2022 documentary Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off.
