Tom Selleck, 79, looks rough in new workout pictures - as bearded actor makes first public appearance since Blue Bloods was brutally axed

The bearded 79-year-old actor stepped out in California for a workout in his first public appearance since filming on his long-running TV cop drama Blue Bloods was brought to an end after 14-years.

As he whipped himself back into shape, Selleck wore high-waisted shorts, a black T-shirt and Brooks running shoes - with his trademark bushy mustache coupled with a a silver beard he has been growing for months. Selleck, who was previously best known as Magnum PI as well as a stint on Friends, won legions of fans with his turn as Frank Reagan on Blue Bloods, a fictional NYPD commissioner. Despite a career spanning decades in Hollywood – including a reported $200,000-per-episode Blue Bloods deal – he told CBS Sunday Morning that he was in jeopardy of falling behind on bills after the show was axed.
