Tom Hanks’ Daughter E.A. Reflects on Troubled Childhood in New Book
E.A. Hanks traveled across the country to learn more about her late mother for her memoir, sharing stories from her own childhood along the way
Her new book, The 10: A Memoir of Family and the Open Road, details what she learned — the good and bad — about Dillingham, who died from lung cancer in 2002 at age 49. “The fridge was bare or full of expired food more often than not, and my mother spent more and more time in her big four-poster bed, poring over the Bible.” The Terminal star was born in Concord, California, in July 1956 and developed his interest in acting by performing in high school plays.
