Hollywood A-lister Tom Hanks has expressed his interest in bringing the story of Irish nun Sr Mary Ignatia Gavin, a pivotal figure in the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous, to the big screen. Sr Gavin established one of the world’s first hospital-based programs for alcoholism - an eight-bed ward that thousands of people passed through on their journey toward recovery. When asked which historical event he would like to portray in a movie, Hanks mentioned Sr Gavin, and said: ““I know men and women who had their lives changed by Alcoholics Anonymous.
