TLC Musical ‘CrazySexyCool’ Aims For Broadway

CrazySexyCool, the upcoming jukebox musical about '90s trio TLC, is set to premiere at Arena Stage in Washington D.C. next year.

The musical tells the story of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, the Grammy-winning trio behind such hits as “Waterfalls,” “Creep,” “Unpretty” and “No Scrubs.” Written and directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, the former artistic director of London’s Young Vic whose credits include One Love: The Bob Marley Musical, CrazySexyCool makes its world premiere at Arena Stage in June 2026 for 8 weeks as part of the company’s 75th Anniversary season. Billed as a “(mostly true) story of unshakable sisterhood,” CrazySexyCool will feature choreography by Chloe O. Davis, the associate choreographer of the current Gypsy whose other credits as a performer include Paradise Square and Hell’s Kitchen. Formed in 1990 Atlanta, TLC would eventually score nine Top 10 hits, including four number-one singles – “Creep”, “Waterfalls”, “No Scrubs” and “Unpretty.” The group sold over 95 million records worldwide, though creative differences and internal feuds set in.
