Timothy Dalton Laments Amazon’s “Sad” Deal To Take Creative Control Of James Bond
Timothy Dalton, star of 'The Living Daylights' and 'Licence To Kill,' says it is sad that James Bond has fallen into the hands of Amazon MGM Studios.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Dalton, who played 007 in The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill, lamented the idea of a British icon being under the creative control of an American company. Dalton said Bond would miss Broccoli’s unique touch, which has seen her carefully marshal the brand and resist the temptation to turn Ian Fleming’s hero into “content” with endless spin-offs. “Since his theatrical introduction over 60 years ago, James Bond has been one of the most iconic characters in filmed entertainment … We are honored to continue this treasured heritage, and look forward to ushering in the next phase of the legendary 007 for audiences around the world.”
