This Morning's soap expert Sharon Marshall reveals what Gail Platt's final Corrie scenes will look like following star's decision to quit after 50 years


The actress, 73, announced on Wednesday she's quit the ITV soap after playing Gail Platt for 50 years.

Sharon, 52, who has written scripts for fellow soaps EastEnders and Emmerdale , appeared on Thursday's This Morning alongside former Corrie stars Brian Capron (right) and Todd Boyce (left) to discuss Helen's departure Helen has been at the centre of an array of explosive storylines, including her daughter Sarah's (Tina O'Brien) teenage pregnancy, and the death of her fourth debt-ridden husband Joe McIntyre (Reece Dinsdale) during a failed life insurance scheme. In 2009, Gail also tied the knot with businessman Joe McIntyre, but remained unaware that he was drowning in thousands of pounds of debt, and was shocked to discover he was plotting to fake his death and claim a huge life insurance payout.
