Brits have been staggered by Channel 4's latest series, Around the World in 80 Weighs, which follows a group of obese Brits as they travel the globe to lose weight.

With obesity so uncommon in Northeast Asia, the participants quickly stood out from the crowds in suburban Tokyo where members of the public openly gawked at them, with schoolchildren even pointing and laughing. Yet motivational speaker Steve, who lost four stone after becoming overweight, didn't hold back with his use of language, telling viewers he was about to encounter 'one of the fattest families I've ever met in my life' who are 'grazing their way to an early grave'.
