Even as we zoom in from location to location, the performances keep the series from spiraling out of control.
The younger Aes Sedai adept is busy learning the ways of walking in Tel’aran’rhiod, the dreamworld overlaid atop the real one and parallel to the regular, non-magical dreams most people experience. While Chiad and Bain whisk Mat’s sisters away, Perrin and Faile discover, to their horror, that his mother, secretly a channeler, has been burned alive by the sadistic Eamon Valda (a marvelously smug Abdul Salis). That’s why it pays to look for the fun little details, the same way cartoonist Martin Handford’s picture-book puzzlers stuffed every two-page spread full of wacky characters and memorable little moments to entertain you while your eyes hunted down that red-and-white-striped shirt and hat.
