The Traitors' biggest lie! Contestants of hit BBC reality show are pictured on screen staying in 30-bedroom Highland castle ... but in reality they're sent to £70-a-night airport hotel
The 'secret location' where contestants go after a day of filming is the Courtyard by Marriott adjoining the Inverness airport car park - a 40-minute drive from Ardross Castle.
But in a bit of deception worthy of the slipperiest contestant, those taking part in the BBC's hit reality show The Traitors stay not in the magnificent 30-bedroom Highland castle where the skullduggery is filmed, but in a £70-a-night airport hotel. The prosaic reality behind the on-screen glamour was revealed by Alan Cumming, who hosts the US version of the series, which is filmed in the same location as the British one, the 19th Century Ardross Castle, 25 miles north of Inverness. Former guests also spotted security guards prowling the premises to stop contestants conferring – or discovering the identities of the traitors in their midst who would return to Ardross Castle to plot the 'murder' of one of their number.
