The Manchester-born Marr put it very bluntly when new and video of MAGA meet-ups featuring the band’s B-side 1984 tune “Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want” on their playlist came to light. Adele and Aerosmith, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Tom Petty, the estate of Prince, and even the Village People are among those who have objected to the former Celebrity Apprentice host playing their music. While Morrisey has become entangled with right-wing politicians and movements over the years, Marr has long been consistent at taking swipes at conservatives who praise The Smiths — as former UK PM David Cameron found out rather harshly over a decade ago.
