The Golden Bachelor Is Coming Back As a Mel-odrama

Meet former NFL player Mel Owens.

Born and raised in Detroit, Owen attended the University of Michigan before he was selected by the L.A. Rams as the ninth overall pick in the 1981 NFL Draft. According to a press release, life “took an unexpected turn with the passing of his father and the end of his marriage,” and he “channeled his energy into being the best father he could, focusing on raising his sons and coaching their extracurricular sports teams.” After several years as a “devoted dad,” he’s now ready to “rediscover a love rooted in the simple joys of companionship – sharing life’s everyday moments, making plans for the future, and growing stronger together as a couple.” Sounds pretty light and fun! But if we’ve learned anything from the past two Golden seasons, it’s that there will likely be some tears throughout the process of Owens narrowing down his yet-to-be-announced cast of suitors.
