The Blues Brothers Story Lives On With New Graphic Novel: ‘Just the Start’

The families of the Blues Brothers are releasing a graphic novel inspired by the group, 'The Blues Brothers: The Escape of Joliet Jake.'

Stella Aykroyd, Luke Pisano, and James Werner co-wrote the book, which is considered a “love letter and a sequel to the original Blues Brothers film,” according to the press release. “The Blues Brothers weren’t just a SNL act or movie, they were real musicians, in awe of the legends who came before them,” said Luke Pisano in a statement. Dan Aykroyd’s daughter Stella said in the release that the Brothers’ stories “have always been perfectly suited for the comic strip,” adding, “Our development process was guided and inspired by the stories and real life occurrences from the lives of Judy, John, and Dan and their process of conception of the Blues Brothers and using it not only for easter eggs but for plot points.”
