The Apprentice rich list: From boxing gyms and artisan bakeries to dessert parlours and luxury cakes - the business empires of Lord Sugar's past winners with the most successful candidates raking in multi-million-pound fortunes

The Apprentice returns to BBC1 for its 18th series tonight at 9pm - but the show's many previous champions have faced mixed fates since triumphing.

From artisan bakeries and dessert parlours to boxing gyms and luxury cakes, winners of Lord Sugar's The Apprentice have built business empires that have led to some of the most successful candidates raking in multi-million-pound fortunes. In an exclusive interview with Mail Online, Harpreet insisted the Apprentice boss had 'no problem' with her business of five years being jointly run by a member of her family - while suggesting BBC producers built up tension as 'a bit of fun TV editing.' But Mr Valente insisted the ridicule only spurred him on to build a new mentoring empire he says is now worth £10million, with other estimates putting his wealth at £4.4million - though its most recent accounts filed last March show total assets and net equity of £157,202.
