Plagued with injuries, mysterious deaths and unexplained happenings, the real-life story of film is almost as terrifying as the movie itself, during which a young Reagan ( Linda Blair) produces a head-spinning, projectile vomiting and spider-walking exorcism scene that holds up even half a century later. Based on Stephen King’s novel, the Stanley Kubrick-helmed horror film centers around writer Jack Torrance ( JackNicholson), who takes a winter caretaker position at a remote Colorado hotel along with his wife, Wendy ( Shelley Duvall), and young son, Danny. What starts out as an academic adventure quickly takes a dark and sinister turn when over the course of several days, the group begin to gather clues to suggest the tale may be more than just fiction — and the students find themselves lost in the woods surrounded by frightening movements and noises.
