In 1979, Ted made his film debut in the crime drama, The Onion Field, alongside John Savage, James Woods and Franklyn Seales. While riding high during his Cheers days, Ted also found success in film as he starred in Three Men and a Baby alongside Tom Selleck and Steve Guttenberg. After multiple film projects — including Saving Private Ryan — Ted returned to TV to star as the titular character in the medical sitcom.
