Taye Diggs Discusses Sister Christian's Schizophrenia Diagnosis: 'It's Not the End of the World'

Taye Diggs speaks out about his younger sister, Christian Diggs, being diagnosed with schizophrenia and his initial misconceptions.

The Best Man: The Final Chapters alum confesses that, like many people, his only reference for schizophrenia was what he'd seen on TV and in media -- depictions that relied heavily on stereotypes and made him nervous for his sister's future. Without treatment, schizophrenia can lead to other complications, including anxiety and depression, misuse of alcohol or drugs, not being able to work or attend school, money problems, homelessness and social isolation. While Taye acknowledges that the disorder is "no way an easy thing to deal with," he emphasizes that seeing his sister "blossom" through her journey with the condition has shown him that "it's not the end of the world by a long shot."
