On Monday, the R&B star visited The Drew Barrymore Show and held back tears as she shared how the actress inspired the Ctrl song named after her. “When you’re a younger black woman, there’s not a lot of examples all the time, and one of the few lovely white women that I looked up to so much on television was you because you were so yourself.” Last year, Barrymore shared the story behind her cameo in the clip, saying she was inspired by a deleted scene in Charlie’s Angels.
