Ten years ago, Sydney Sweeney read the script for a horror film about the chaste impregnation of a girl at a boarding school in Ireland, the walls closing in as she realises that everyone around her is only interested in her body. She attributes its success to the audience recognising the fun that was had on set, with improvised moments like the Titanic scene between her character Bea and Glen Powell’s Ben, and a screening of cast member Dermot Mulroney’s classic romantic comedy, My Best Friend’s Wedding, which the actor hadn’t watched since its premiere in 1997. The thriller that she’s currently working on – Echo Valley, where she plays the disturbed daughter of Julianne Moore – is “pretty dark and raw”, but despite leaving her “a bit more depleted” still didn’t linger with her at the end of the day.
