Strictly Come Dancing sensation Rose Ayling-Ellis couldn't hold back the tears as she delved into her family's past and uncovered a poignant chapter in her ancestry on BBC series Who Do You Think You Are. Rose learned that her great-great-great grandmother Agnes led an intriguing life as a pub landlady during the early 1900s, an era of heightened moral scrutiny over alcohol consumption. On visiting the Aston Tavern in Birmingham, which Agnes once ran, Rose became emotional as she found out her ancestor had endured the loss of two husbands, yet triumphed against the gender prejudices of her day.
