Strictly, Coronation Street and X Factor stars recognised in King’s Birthday Honours list
The X Factor’s Rebecca Ferguson, Strictly’s Amy Dowden, The Crown star Imelda Staunton, and Corrie’s Shobna Gulati are among the celebrities recognised in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours list
Actress and presenter Shobna Gulati, best known for her role as Sunita in Coronation Street and Anita in comedy Dinnerladies, has also become a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to the cultural industries. The former sub-postmaster, who has previously rejected an OBE honour, told the PA News agency: “The time I was asked about the OBE… I felt it would have been quite offensive to many of the group if I’d accepted it.” Dame Imelda Staunton as the Queen in The Crown (Image: Keith Bernstein/Netflix)In the Honours list, actress Imelda Staunton, who played Queen Elizabeth II in the final two seasons of The Crown, has been made a dame, as has fashion accessories designer Anya Hindmarch and artist Tracey Emin.
