Strictly hit with outraged complaints to BBC over 'offensive' first on show

Graziano Di Prima and Johannes Radebe made history on Strictly back in 2019, becoming the first same-sex pairing to dance on the show – which certainly ruffled a few feathers

But not everybody was happy with professional dancers Graziano Di Prima and openly gay Johannes Radebe's performance — with almost 200 viewers complaining about the dance at the time. The BBC reported that 189 complained about the performance, which moved millions of viewers to tears, claiming that it was "offensive to feature two men dancing as a pair." Italian dancer Graziano, who has since left the show, and South African Johannes, took to the ballroom floor on the programme's results show on 3 November 2019, performing the moving piece as Emeli Sande sang her recent hit, Shine.
