Strictly Come Dancing's Angela Rippon, 79, gives health update after suffering 'major medical meltdown' which forced her to pull out of show tour on doctor's orders

Angela Rippon has announced she will return to the Strictly Come Dancing tour after she suffered a 'serious asthma attack' which caused her to stop breathing.

After receiving treatment from paramedics on site, she explained that she could breath again but was prescribed two days of bed rest by the doctor, causing her to miss shows in Leeds. She explained that once she got to Leeds, the company doctor told her the infection was 'a lot worse' than she had first thought and requested she rest and prescribed 'a very impressive regime of medication'. The broadcaster, who made history last year as the competition's eldest contestant aged 79, missed performances this week after struggling with a 'medical issue' (pictured on Strictly in September)
