Strictly's pro dancer Kai Widdrington rushed to be with his dad when the football manager suffered two strokes and was urgently taken to hospital in Southend, Essex
The terrifying ordeal for the family began last week when Tommy, 53, a former footballer turned Aldershot Town manager, was taken urgently to Southend General hospital. The positive news continued with Tommy returning home on Tuesday afternoon to start further rehabilitation, filled with gratitude for the warm wishes: "He is very appreciative of all the messages of encouragement he's received from all corners of the football world." While it remains uncertain when Tommy can make his comeback to managing, the family relayed his confidence in his team during his recovery: "He also wants The Shots fans to know he has total faith in the staff and the players in his absence and looks forward to being back in the dugout when he's deemed fit enough to do so", reports the Mirror.
