Strictly Ballroom star Gia Carides hints the Baz Luhrmann film could get a sequel 32 years after it became a smash hit: 'It could be extraordinary'

Gia Carides rose to fame in the 1992 Baz Luhrmann-directed romantic comedy Strictly Ballroom.

In the comedy, Paul Mercurio stars as Scott Hastings, an Australian ballroom dancer who pairs with beginner-dancer Fran (Tara Morice) after his maverick style earns him the disdain of his conservative colleagues. Dancer and television host Sonia Kruger was also a ballroom adviser in the movie and helped teach her fellow cast members how to dance. Sonia has of course moved on to a very successful TV hosting career after rising to fame in her role as Tina Sparkle in the film.
