The Punisher wasn’t originally part of Marvel’s four series deal with Netflix, but Jon Bernthal ’s performance as the title character was so popular that he got his own spinoff from Daredevil. Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who will be appearing this summer as the Thing in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, made his Marvel debut as David Lieberman, a former NSA operative who is one of Castle’s only allies. The Defenders also ties up some loose ends from Daredevil season 2 as Matt Murdock’s lover, Elektra Natchios ( Élodie Yung), is resurrected by the evil death cult known as The Hand in their bid for ultimate power.
