Stephen Colbert Says His Wife Saved His Life After Burst Appendix (Exclusive)

The late-night TV host canceled several shows in November to recover from surgery for a ruptured appendix.

ET's Nischelle Turner broached the subject when the late-night TV host was on the red carpet for the 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday from L.A. Live's Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, but before he could dive into the topic he had a very important question of his own. GettyColbert was in such bad shape, his wife didn't have to see him in order to know her husband and the father of their three kids was in the middle of a serious medical scare. Colbert, who is nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Variety Talk Series category, added that all he wanted to do was go home and sleep.
