A new grand jury again indicted Trump on four counts of conspiracy and obstruction to remain in power after the 2020 presidential election. That includes claims that Trump sought to pressure Justice Department officials as he challenged the election results. “The superseding indictment, which was presented to a new grand jury that had not previously heard evidence in this case, reflects the Government’s efforts to respect and implement the Supreme Court’s holdings and remand instructions in Trump v. United States,” Smith and other attorneys wrote in a court filing today.
