Sorry Ariel, Taylor Swift Revealed Real ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ Inspiration in a 2008 Interview

Taylor Swift appeared to reveal the inspiration for the 'Tortured Poets' song 'But Daddy I Love Him' in a resurfaced interview from 2008.

In a resurfaced Popsugar clip from 2008, Swift described an argument with her father Scott that came after the then-19-year-old singer was apparently dating a man her parents didn’t care for. “And I remember screaming something, like, ‘But daddy, I love him!’ And running out and storming into my room and slamming the door and then I sat down on the floor and wrote this song.” On her current European leg of the Eras Tour, “But Daddy” is among the new songs Swift has added to the revamped setlist.
