Sony Pictures Sees Operating Income Spike While Music Notches Gains and Gaming Dips
Sony Pictures Entertainment posted a 70% spike in operating income for the quarter ended March 31, according to Sony Corp.'s fiscal Q4 results.
Sony’s gaming unit, home to the PlayStation franchise, took a small hit in operating profit and revenue in the period that counts as the company’s fiscal fourth quarter. Sony Corp. brass are set to address the fiscal Q4 results on a conference call with analysts later on Wednesday in Tokyo. Sony’s financial disclosure also addressed the world-shaking impact of President Donald Trump’s tariff spree that began April 2 with great fanfare as America’s “Day of Liberation.” The ripple effect of Trump’s campaign to reroute global trade patterns is seen in boilerplate language included in Sony’s report.
