Sony Music Sues LiveOne, Claiming $2.6M in Past-Due Licensing Fees

Sony filed a lawsuit claiming LiveOne owes $2.6 million in licensing fees but won't stop playing songs by Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus and Tate McRae.

The company says the music streamer is now engaging in copyright infringement by continuing to play tracks by artists including Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus and Tate McRae. Sony claims in a new lawsuit that streaming platform LiveOne and its subsidiary Slacker Radio owe $2.6 million in unpaid licensing fees yet are refusing to stop playing the label’s music, including tracks by Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus and Tate McRae. But Sony’s lawyers claim the LiveOne app is still streaming more than 200 of the label’s songs — aso including tracks by Doja Cat, Harry Styles, Justin Timberlake and Khalid.
