Modern Family ’s Sofia Vergara is a household name after playing fiery Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the US sitcom – however, the Colombian actress is heading into new territory for Netflix’s latest crime drama, Griselda. Based on the story of real-life Colombian drug trafficker Griselda Blanco, the six-parter stars Sofia as the “godmother of cocaine” as she flees her home country with her sons to begin a cartel operation in 1970s Miami, Florida. As Griselda’s cocaine business begins to boom, it’s not long before she’s pursued by rival drug boss Fernando (Ernesto Alterio) as well as homicide detective June Hawkins (Juliana Aidén Martinez).
