Soap fans devastated as ITV axes major series
ITV has reportedly cancelled a major reality TV show, despite starring some of the nation’s biggest soap stars. Drama Queens debuted earlier this year - and has already been axed.
ITV reality show Drama Queens debuted this year, featuring some of Britain’s best soap talent (Image: ITV) Stars featured on the show included Lucy Fallon and Ellie Leach, known for playing Bethany Platt and Faye Windass in Coronation Street, Jamelia and Jorgie Porter, known for playing Sharon Bailey and Teresa McQueen in Hollyoaks, and Laura Norton and Roxy Shahidi, who have played Kerry Wyatt and Leyla Harding on Emmerdale, amongst others. An inside source told The Sun: “Drama Queens was launched amid a lot of excitement and fanfare, but proved logistically quite difficult and expensive to make.” Emmerdale's Laura Norton reflected on returning to work with two children on the show (Image: laura_norts/Instagram)She added: “One minute I feel like ‘yes, I need this and am ready for this and it’s really good for them, they need me to be off doing things’, but then on the flip side I just want to be near to them all the time and able to access them whenever I want to.”
