From Mean Girl moments to dismissive eye rolls, it's fair to say Apple Martin's appearance at a debutante ball in Paris over the weekend was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
The privileged daughter of Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay singer Chris Martin arguably did her public image no favours on Saturday, as around 20 young women were presented at the Le Bal des Débutantes, held in the $1,000-a-night Hotel Shangri-La. After apparently muscling in on another debutant's photo opportunity - an act that resulted in 20-year old Apple being compared to Mean Girls character Regina George - she was seen rolling her eyes disdainfully at her eligible date, Count Leo Henckel von Donnersmarck. He is the descendant of a large and noble Austro-German family who were central figures of the 2nd Industrial Revolution, spearheading technological innovations like mild steel puddling metal factories, three-high rolling mills and soda-pulping in Germany.
