Sky viewers urged to check their TVs as 12 channels are wiped today
Sky viewers are urged to check their television today as over 10 channels are being wiped, but it's not all bad news as the channels are disappearing completely, just switching to HD
TV lovers with a Sky package have been urged to check their televisions today as more than a dozen satellite-definition (also known as SD) channels are set to disappear. It comes as part of the industry-wide satellite switch off where the likes of BBC and ITV have closed down existing SD channels in favour of their high-definition (HD) versions. The much-loved Sky Sports Day Membership, which allows viewers to join for 24 hours with a one-off fee, is being adjusted and users won't be thrilled with the update as the cost of this plan has now jumped up from £11.99 to £14.99 - a hefty £3 increase.
