Sky News star announces they've quit - before confirming new show


One of the top stars at Sky News has revealed he is leaving the channel, but has announced his new projects which include writing a new book and an upcoming TV drama

Formerly an executive at the BBC, Rob announced his departure on Monday 7 October on X, formerly Twitter, writing: “Farewell @skynews, was a privilege to work with @Beth Rigby who won the RTS as Political Journalist of the Year during my time there.” He also revealed what he would be doing next, adding: “Writing a new book, TV drama coming in 2025 and, new gig klaxon, am reunited with @afneil on his lunchtime show on @TimesRadio - tune in at 1!” is a bestselling insider’s account of his experiences working in political television for over 25 years that has won praise from many of the people he has worked with, including Andrew Neil, who said: “What Rob Burley doesn’t know about political interviewing isn’t worth knowing.” Former Newsnight presenter Jeremy Paxman added: “He writes beautifully,” while journalist Emily Maitlis called it “a delicious read.”
