Sky Exec Addresses Whether Eddie Redmayne’s ‘The Day of the Jackal’ Needed to Be a Reboot: ‘It’s Almost More of an Uphill Challenge but It Does Give You a Playbook’


Sky scripted exec Meghan Lyvers has said using the original 'Day of the Jackal' IP for the Eddie Redmayne reboot was 'helpful' to the series.

“It’s an interesting one,” said Lyvers, who is executive director of original scripted television and film at the Comcast-owned media company. “The IP [intellectual property] was in the Universal family,” she explained, adding that the book has always been a “touchpoint for filmmakers” embarking on any kind of “big thriller, espionage type of film.” “We are continuing to build on originals for scripted and that’s a wonderful position to be in and we know we’re very fortunate, but it does mean that we’re making very tough choices.”
