Sir Elton John, 77, details 'heavy moment' he confronted his death after long-time collaborator Bernie Taupin gave him a new song lyric

The music legend, 77, admitted he 'lost it' and was 'consoled for 45 minutes' as he detailed the moving story while on Friday's Graham Norton Show.

Sir Elton and American producer Brandi Carlile (R), 43, were promoting their upcoming joint collab album titled Who Believes In Angels - which will be out on 4 April (pictured with Robert De Niro on the show) In breathtakingly awkward scenes from his documentary, the pop legend is seen slamming his headphones down and tearing up a piece of sheet music as he tells aghast onlookers: 'I'm going home' as he brands the session a 'f***ing nightmare.' The singer entered into a civil partnership with Canadian filmmaker David Furnish, 56, in December 2005, before tying the knot when same-sex marriage became legal in England and Wales in March 2014.
