Sir David Attenborough's fears over 'becoming helpless' in serious health battle
Sir David Attenborough, who celebrates his 99th birthday today, previously revealed his fears at getting Alzheimer's and how it would affect his day-to-day
When asked by the 60 Minutes anchor what he was "most fearful" of at that moment in time, the broadcaster replied: "Becoming helpless and gaga," referring to the possibility of developing conditions such as Alzheimer's. Chatting with Anderson Cooper, Sir David reminisced on a kaleidoscope of pioneering moments he'd love to encounter once again: "Seeing a coral reef for the first time, watching a hummingbird, sitting alongside a gorilla, and holding my first born baby." When probed about the crushing lows he's faced while filming nature's raw edge, Sir David recalled: "I suppose the most obvious one that I remember particularly vividly, of course, is the first time when I went to a coral reef.
