Shane MacGowan's widow issues appeal as his beloved rifle from 1916 goes missing

The widow of late singer Shane MacGowan has issued an appeal after a gun belonging to the tragic star has 'likely been stolen'.

The make is actually called a Lee-Enfield - eight years ago a similar rifle was sold at an auction in Dublin marking the 100-year anniversary of the gun battle with a winning bid of €2,000. The bloody battle saw 485 people killed and more than half were innocent civilians, with parts of Dublin left in ruins - 82 Irish rebels were among the dead, with 16 of the Rising's leaders later executed. His funeral in his adopted city was beamed on telly and saw dancing in the church as his life was celebrated and huge stars like Johnny Depp, Bono and Nick Cave led tributes.
