Shakira Hospitalized for ‘Abdominal Issue,' Forcing Her to Cancel Peru Concert

Shakira was taken to the ER with an 'abdominal issue,' the singer announced on Feb. 16, and forced to cancel her show in Lima, Peru, originally scheduled for that date.

“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,” the singer began the statement, originally written in all caps. At the recommendation of the doctors currently overseeing her health, Shakira canceled her Sunday, Feb. 16, tour stop at the National Stadium of Peru — the first of two back-to-back shows in the capital city. News of Shakira’s hospitalization comes just days after she kicked off her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
