Shailene Woodley Is 'Excited' to Sing as Janis Joplin in Upcoming Biopic

Shailene Woodley confirmed she'll be singing for her role as Janis Joplin in an upcoming biopic about the legendary musician

While the film — which will follow Joplin’s final days before her 1970 death at age 27 — was announced in September, Woodley revealed that she’s been working on the project for seven years. From Jeremy Allen White’s upcoming Bruce Springsteen film, to Timothée Chalamet showing off his Bob Dylan-like vocals in A Complete Unknown, music biopics seem to be everywhere. As a result, Woodley and the film’s crew will be able to shoot at actual locations that proved to be pivotal in Joplin’s life, including Barney’s Beanery, where the singer partied the night of her death.
