SeriesFest Reveals Pilot Competition Winners
Lake Boga won best drama pilot, Settle Down won best comedy pilot and F*ckUps Anonymous picked up the award for best short series.
“We can think of no better way to close out another successful edition of the festival than to celebrate and give back to the independent storytellers who continue to push the boundaries of the medium,” said SeriesFest Co-Founders Randi Kleiner and Kaily Smith. Lake Boga, which was directed by Ben Bryan and exec produced by Nick Farnell and Anthony Sharpe, follows Nathan, an experienced ex-military assassin, who is hired for the job of a lifetime: to find and destroy every single meth lab in the state, after the meth-addicted daughter of a mysterious businessman named The Baron is declared missing, presumed dead. Vs. Goliath, which was directed by Sam Eilertsen and Nate Birnbaum, follows a retired schoolteacher, a former oil refinery worker, an Army veteran, and a group of Indigenous activists, who come together to fight the fossil fuel industry and protect their homelands while imagining a more just and prosperous future for their communities.
