Selena Gomez Says Social Media Has Made Her “A Tad Bitter”: “Everyone Just Has Something To Say”


Selena Gomez is opening up about a harsh reality in the social media world and notes that women face much more severe criticism online.

“I was also going to point out that women have it much worse,” Gomez said on Jay Shett’s podcast On Purpose alongside her fiancé Benny Blanco, who said he ignores criticism on social media. Gomez also talked about how people have commented on her weight, saying, “Everyone just has something to say, and it’s really making me sad—not even sad ‘cause, I’m not a victim, everyone—I just think it’s made me a tad bitter, and I feel really guilty for saying that, but it’s true.” To help with her mental health, Gomez says that she takes breaks from social media, but once in a while she does come across things and tries to “ignore most of everything,” adding, “So there are ways to combat it.
