Ahead of the theatrical release of Emilia Pérez in France, the 32-year-old singer-actress shared an emotional video on Instagram showing the moment she found out she’d been cast in the Jacques Audiard-directed film, after which she could barely hold back tears. The post comes about three and a half months after Gomez and castmates Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón and Adriana Paz collectively won the best actress award at Cannes Film Festival for their work in Emilia Pérez. A recent trailer for the installment teased that the main characters have yet another homicide mystery to solve – that of Martin’s Brazzos stunt double Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch) — while consulting on a film adaptation of their lives starring Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy and Zach Galifianakis.
