See Father John Misty Debut Unreleased Song ‘The Dead Mouse One’ on ‘Colbert’

Father John Misty visited 'The Late Show' Thursday to debut a new song titled "The Dead Mouse One."

Rather than showcasing a track off his new album Mahashmashana, the singer-songwriter instead opted for an exclusive performance of an acoustic ballad about, as the title suggests, a mouse that died. Soon after, the singer born Josh Tillman reveals that the mouse’s demise — brought forth by “a handyman who had to spray” — and then burying the creature, who ultimately inspired the unreleased song. In addition to Mahashmashana — which was unfortunately overshadowed by a new Kendrick Lamar album, again — Father John Misty also recently celebrated Valentine’s Day with a 10th anniversary reissue of I Love You, Honeybear, an edition that included his rendition of Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box.”
